Yris the Manipulator

Description

Yris is the wife of Wrul the Conqueror and Empress of the planet Dis. While she wields substantial personal and political power, she prefers not to use either overtly. Instead she plays the role of dutiful, obedient queen and seemingly defers to her husband, all the while playing on his power and ego to achieve her goal of boundless power.

Yris is courteous, humorous and well-versed in statecraft. She is a talented liar, a ruthless negotiator and rarely loses her temper, since direct confrontation is not her style. Her husband, the Emperor Wrul and his armies are the blunt threat, while she is the sly viper that strikes at the most opportune time at her enemies' weakest point. Since she has been empress for three different emperors, the wisest of the political elite on Dis have long since recognized she is the true power and are cautious when dealing with her. Wrul, for all his military genius sees her as the loyal queen who conducts the day-to-day business of the empire as he would. Like the previous emperor he slew and the emperor before that, he is blind to her manipulations and that is just how Yris would like things to remain.

Yris is a physically powerful woman, especially when wearing her battle armor, but the true danger when dealing with her is her brilliant mind and insidious powers of persuasion. Yris has subtle mental powers that encourage people to believe her and trust her. She lacks the ability to truly control or read minds, but she is a master diplomat and is well practiced in convincing, bribing or coercing others in order to get her way.

She shares her husbands hatred of Valiant and his allies, but is far better at suppressing it, lest her emotions cause her to act without caution.

The horns were a dead-giveaway that she was probably evil.
She's not even trying to be fashionably subtle. Devilish
Nice characterization.
